Celeste is an artistic duo formed by María Fernanda Camarena (Guadalajara, Jalisco, 1988) and Gabriel Rosas Alemán (Mexico City, 1983).
Through the integration of various media and disciplines in their practice, Celeste conducts a negotiation that expands concentrically to gradually encompass other collaborators and spectators within the functioning of an intimate exchange. The exhibition space is transposed by the proximity of everyday life, creating transient moments of closeness and familiarity, blurring the common structures that define how an artwork should be appreciated or how a museum or gallery should be used as a space.
Their work has been presented in various national and international exhibitions including Un temblor pequeño movió el centro en guadalajara90210, Guadalajara, Jalisco (2023); Las historias que me guardo para mí en Castilla Klyuyeva Gallery, Monterrey, Nuevo León (2023); HOST: Celeste, The Contemporary Austin-Jones Center on Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas, United States (2023); Hacer espacio en Báltico, Mexico City (2023); A Portable Landscape at Canopy Collections, London, United Kingdom (2023); Sin saberlo doblé el tiempo en guadalajara90210, Mexico City (2022); Manta de cielo at JO-HS, Mexico City (2022), Manta de cielo at Laguna Gloria, Austin, Texas, United States (2022); Un fondo, un escenario, un paisaje at guadalajara90210, Mexico City (2022); Metamorfosis Ancestral at guadalajara90210, Guadalajara, Jalisco (2022); Tepetlapa at Project Pangée, Montreal, Canada (2021); Obra Parasol I; Estudio abierto at Studio Block M74, Mexico City (2021), and Celeste at the Zapopan Museum of Art, Zapopan, Jalisco (2020).
